Kumbh Vivah is the symbolic marriage performed for a manglik person before their actual wedding — to a pot (kumbh), a peepal tree or a banana tree. The belief is that the effect of Mangal Dosh passes to this symbolic marriage instead.
A person is called manglik when Mars sits in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth house of the birth chart. Kumbh Vivah is one of the traditional remedies. Ark Vivah is the same idea in another form, performed with the ark plant.
