Siddhavat is an ancient banyan on the bank of the Shipra in Ujjain, counted among the four Akshayavat — the immortal banyan trees of India. Pind daan, tarpan and Pitra Dosh shanti in Ujjain are performed chiefly here. It is busiest during Pitru Paksha.
The tree is held to have been planted by Mata Parvati. The Akshayavat of Prayagraj, the banyan at Gaya, the Vanshivat of Vrindavan and the Panchavat of Nashik — Ujjain’s Siddhavat belongs to that company.

Akshaya means that which does not perish. Tradition holds that the tree was cut and capped with iron sheets, and grew back regardless. That is how it came to be called the immortal banyan.

Through Pitru Paksha 2026, from 26 September to 10 October, large numbers come here every day. Sarva Pitru Amavasya — 10 October — is the busiest of them.
